Biolife LLC is pleased to announce that in the first quarter of 2009, the company has donated several hundred units of its proprietary powder products to organizations that assist people with bleeding disorders and other life-threatening conditions. Donations of powder were made to the following organizations:
LA Kelley Communications/Project SHARE - a non-profit group that provides blood-clotting medication (factor) and other supplies to those with bleeding disorders in developing countries who can’t afford treatment for their condition. Many of these hemophilia patients experience significant, prolonged external bleeding.
Matthew 25: Ministries – a non-profit organization based in Cincinnati, OH, whose mission is providing nutritional food to the hungry, clean water to the thirsty, clothing to the naked, shelter to the homeless, medical care to the ill, and humanitarian supplies to the poor.
Cooks Children’s Hospital Hematology & Oncology Center - Cook Children's Hematology & Oncology Center specializes in the treatment of cancers, the most common being leukemia, and blood disorders such as hemophilia, sickle cell anemia and genetic and metabolic abnormalities.
Imus Ranch – a 4000-acre working cattle ranch in Ribera, NM founded by long-time radio personality Don Imus and his wife Deirdre as a charitable organization that seeks to ensure the continuity of the lives of children who are afflicted with cancer or serious blood diseases. The charity’s goal is to provide children ages 10–17 with an experience of living life on a functioning cattle ranch free of charge, to build up the child's self-confidence and sense of accomplishment, in the company of similar children facing serious illness.
According to Biolife spokesperson, Andrew McFall, donations of product supports the company’s mission of “improving the quality of life” and helps put excess product to good use. Andrew says, “We really appreciate the work that these organizations are doing to help those in need, both here in the US and in developing countries. They are making a huge difference in the lives of people with bleeding disorders, cancer and other diseases and we want to thank them for that and do our part where we can.”
